ADHD & ASD Assessments
About the ADHD Assessments:
The Conners Continuous Performance Test 3rd edition (CPT3) measures visual attentions in individuals 8 years and older. The Conners Continuous Auditory Test of Attention (CATA) measures an individuals auditory processing for ages 8 years and older. Created by C. Keith Conners PHD. Both of these assessments do have to be taken in-person. They are completed on a laptop. The CPT3 is a visual assessment that will have various letters flash and you will press the space bar for every letter except for the letter "x". The CATA is an auditory assessment that will have you press the space bar when you hear a high sound paired with a low sound.
When taken with the Conners Adult ADHD Rating Scale a self report. (You can find this for free at https://www.adhdme.care/indicator-caars ) The correct classification rate is 92.7%
The assessments each last 15 minutes and then I will review your results then go over them with you. The total appointment will last about one hour.
About the Autism Assessment:
I use the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, second edition (ADOS-2) assessment. While this assessment can be used to assess people 2 years and older I specialize in verbally fluent adults ages 16 years and older. The ADOS-2 has a strong predictive validity rate of 90% when using the verbally fluent adult module. The industry standard is 80% and higher. It is widely accepted in the medical field.
During the assessment you should expect to be treated with respect and understanding as I ask you to complete a couple of tasks and ask several interview based questions.
Many places will have you come in and complete the assessment and then they will set up a follow up appointment for you to receive your results. For several reasons, I will complete your assessment (which will take 45-60 minutes), then ask you to step in the waiting area while I complete the scoring and write your report, then ask you to come back into the office where we will review your results. The total time should take around 2 hours.
Online Assessments:
I have found several free online assessments that may also benifit you. I suggest you taking these and printing off your results to take to your doctor or therapist. This will help them have an even more evidence to back up their decision to give you an official diagnosis or not.
Please note: When you fill out these assessments remember to answer the questions as if you do not accommodate yourself. e.g. if you need to set several alarms to remind yourself to complete self care tasks answer the questions as if you did not set those alarms.
